For 100% in the mobile.de quality check, what counts is image quality (40%), vehicle attributes (30%), at least 25 photos (20%), and at least 1,000 characters of text (10%). Here's how to proceed.

To reach 100% in the mobile.de quality check, you work through four criteria according to their weighting: image quality, vehicle attributes via the VIN (vehicle identification number), at least 25 photos, and at least 1,000 characters of description text. The quality check is an AI-powered tool in the mobile.de dealer area that rates every listing with a quality score of up to 100 percent. According to trade press, the weighting is distributed as follows: image quality 40%, vehicle attributes 30%, number of images 20%, and description length 10%.

What do you need before you start with the quality check?

You need access to the mobile.de dealer area, the VIN of each vehicle, and a suitable spot for good photos. You don't need any particular tariff plan, because according to kfz-betrieb the check is included free of charge in all tariff models.

Prepare the following in advance:

  • the login credentials for the dealer area, where according to kfz-betrieb the check has been usable since February 2, 2026
  • the VIN of every listed vehicle for automatic data capture
  • a fixed photo spot with good light and a camera or smartphone with high resolution
  • a contact person at your DMS provider (i.e., the provider of your dealer software), if you transmit your listings to mobile.de via interface
  • a list of your current listings with the days-in-stock from the DMS

The figures on weighting come from two trade reports from January 28, 2026, published by kfz-betrieb and by automotive.at. Compare the values against the figures in your own dealer area.

How to reach 100% in the mobile.de quality check: Step by step

Work through the four criteria according to their weighting: first image quality, then attributes, then the number of images, and finally the description. This way you collect as many points as possible with each step.

Criterion Weighting Recommendation per report What you do in the dealership
Image quality 40% high resolution, good light, relevant angles fixed photo spot, fixed perspectives
Vehicle attributes 30% as detailed as possible, data capture via VIN VIN lookup, check equipment
Number of images 20% at least 25 vehicle photos fixed photo list per vehicle
Description length 10% at least 1,000 characters AI description plus your own check

1. Open the quality check in the dealer area

Log in to the mobile.de dealer area. According to kfz-betrieb, the check has been available there since February 2, 2026. Start with the listings with the lowest score and note the starting value for each so you can compare later.

2. First improve the image quality

Image quality contributes the most to the score, at 40%. According to kfz-betrieb, mobile.de wants photos that are high resolution, taken in good lighting conditions, and show relevant angles. Take photos at a fixed spot with a calm background and replace dark, blurry, or crooked images. For existing vehicles with weak photos, a new photo session is more worthwhile than a text edit.

3. Capture vehicle attributes via VIN

Vehicle attributes make up 30% of the score; the platform recommends information that is as detailed as possible. For this, mobile.de suggests automated data capture via the vehicle identification number. Then check the imported data against the vehicle and add any equipment features missing from the lookup.

4. Bring the photo set up to the recommended number

The number of images contributes 20%; for the maximum value, mobile.de recommends at least 25 vehicle photos. A fixed photo list helps: front, rear, both sides, diagonal views, interior front and rear, dashboard with mileage, trunk, wheels, engine bay, and any existing signs of use.

If you list via the CSV interface, clarify with your DMS provider whether all images arrive. mobile.de's undated upload documentation lists image names only up to “_15.jpg”.

5. Write a detailed vehicle description

The length of the description contributes 10%; the platform names at least 1,000 characters as the target. A good draft is the AI-assisted vehicle description, which, according to kfz-betrieb, mobile.de introduced in autumn 2025. Check every sentence against the vehicle before the listing goes online. When uploading via CSV, the "bemerkung" (remark) field holds a maximum of 3,000 characters.

6. Check the score again and close the gaps

Run the check again after every change and see which criterion is still missing points. Close these gaps too, in order of weighting. Store the photo list and text template centrally in the dealership, so new vehicles go online complete from the start.

How long does it take, and does the mobile.de quality check cost anything?

The check itself costs nothing: according to kfz-betrieb it is included free of charge in all tariff models. How long the work takes depends on your inventory and the condition of your listings. The sources don't give time estimates.

What you mainly have to invest is work time. The largest part of the score consists of image quality (40%) and number of images (20%), and this work happens directly at the vehicle. Attributes and text, on the other hand, you handle at the desk.

Criterion One-time setup Per vehicle
Image quality Set photo spot, light, and perspectives Take photos after detailing
Vehicle attributes Build VIN lookup firmly into the process Check and complete data at the vehicle
Number of images Create photo list Work through list, check upload
Description Create text template Check and supplement AI text

An example: A used-car dealer sorts his listings every Monday by score. Vehicles with weak photos get taken to the photo spot at the next detailing appointment; the salesperson corrects attributes and text the same day. New vehicles only go online once the photo list has been fully worked through.

For whom is it worth working on the quality score?

The effort is worthwhile for every dealership that lists on mobile.de. The check costs nothing, and according to mobile.de, listings with a high score have a better chance of being placed more visibly in search results.

Revising pays off the most for vehicles with many days in stock, because every additional inquiry counts there. In a sponsored article about the platform update in spring 2026, mobile.de cites up to 66 percent more listing views and up to 34 percent more demand. According to the article, this is based on a comparison of more than 800,000 listings; it quotes Florian Baur, Chief Sales Officer at mobile.de. So these are provider figures and maximum values.

In the dealership, the work can be divided by criteria:

  • Detailing or photographer: image quality and number of images
  • Sales or dispatch: attributes via VIN and description
  • DMS administrator: checking the upload via the interface

If you list via a DMS, it depends on the state of the interface. According to kfz-betrieb, the check is supposed to become available "soon" via a data interface, and according to automotive.at, "in a further step" via data partners through an API. Whether this already works with your provider is best asked directly there.

Video on top of the score

Video does not count in the quality check: the weighting of image quality, attributes, number of images and description already adds up to 100 percent. If you also want to show your cars on video without filming yourself, you can hand that off. A21 Social, the publisher of this blog, automatically turns your listings into short vertical videos and posts them on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. The YouTube video can go into the mobile.de listing as a link. Plans start at 29 euros a month plus VAT.

What mistakes cost points in the quality check?

You lose the most points on photos, because image quality and number of images together carry the greatest weight according to the report. Next come incomplete attributes and unchecked texts.

  • Many photos of weak quality: The count carries 20%, the quality 40%. Dark showroom photos may fill out the photo set, but they cost points on the more heavily weighted criterion.
  • Taking over VIN data without checking: Missing or incorrectly stated equipment is noticed by buyers at the latest during viewing.
  • Publishing AI text without checking: The automatic description is a draft that you must compare against the vehicle.
  • Artificially padding the text: Length only carries 10%. Filler sentences barely earn points and help no buyer.
  • Relying on a video as a score lever: The CSV documentation provides for a field “video-url” for YouTube addresses. No source confirms that a video factors into the score.
  • Not checking the upload via the interface: Compare the finished listing on mobile.de with the data record in the DMS, especially the number of images.

How do you check whether the quality check has had an effect?

After about a month, compare score, views, and inquiries per listing in the mobile.de dealer area against the state before the revision. mobile.de itself based its own analysis on a one-month period, from September 23, 2025 to October 23, 2025.

  1. Check the score directly after the revision. The target value is the maximum of 100 percent.
  2. In your dealer area's listing statistics, compare views per listing: the starting value with the value after one month.
  3. Compare contact inquiries per listing over the same period.
  4. Compare the days-in-stock of the revised vehicles with your previous average in the DMS.

Don't expect miracles. The up to 66 percent more views is a maximum value from a sponsored article by mobile.de. Season, price, and vehicle mix also influence your numbers. A comparison across several vehicles therefore tells you more than a single case.

Our recommendation: bring your listings to 100% with the quality check and let A21 Social turn the same listings into videos for your channels.
