What is the difference between mobile.de and AutoScout24?
Both are online vehicle marketplaces where you list used cars and receive purchase inquiries. The differences lie in the published figures and in the tools for your listings. Added to this, mobile.de has handled its sister platform Kleinanzeigen differently since April 2026.
AutoScout24 sees itself as a European marketplace. In its company profile, the marketplace cites over 30 million monthly users, more than 2 million vehicle listings, and over 40,000 dealer partners. These are group figures for Europe, not values for Germany alone.
Dealers usually know mobile.de's figures from the trade press. According to kfz-betrieb, views of dealer listings rose by about 31% in 2024. In addition, dealers reportedly sold 54% of the listed vehicles via the platform as well.
The two marketplaces set their own priorities when it comes to tools. In the first half of 2025, mobile.de introduced over 20 product innovations, including AI-supported recommendations and price analyses; the quality check was added in February 2026. AutoScout24 shows you, when creating the listing, where your price stands compared to the competition.
What has changed is the additional reach: since April 1, 2026, mobile.de displays dealer listings less often on Kleinanzeigen. If you have previously gained prospects through this channel, compare inquiries since April closely with those from the same period last year.
What do mobile.de and AutoScout24 cost for dealers in 2026?
Neither marketplace had an official dealer price list in euros publicly available as of October 22, 2026. For mobile.de, the direction is documented: since April 1, 2026, all providers with more than one vehicle pay at least 9.1% more.
According to kfz-betrieb, the increase applies to almost all function and volume packages; only dealers with a single vehicle are exempt. According to the report, mobile.de is significantly raising prices again in 2026. Details on this price round can be found in our article mobile.de dealer prices 2026: at least 9.1% more.
What AutoScout24 costs per vehicle cannot be verified from public sources. So request a written quote from the dealer sales team for your inventory size. This way you compare both marketplaces on the same basis.
The benchmark here should be sales per euro spent. An inquiry (lead) is a prospect's contact regarding a specific vehicle. It is only an intermediate step; your dealership only earns money with the sale.
How to calculate your cost per sale:
- Take the package costs for each marketplace for one quarter from your invoices.
- Count the inquiries per marketplace in the same period in the dealer area or in your CRM.
- Assign each sale to the marketplace through which the buyer came to you. Ask actively about this during the sales conversation.
- Divide the costs of each marketplace by its number of inquiries and by its number of sales.
- Compare the result with the new offer from the other marketplace before renewing a contract.
Example: A dealership finds, using this calculation, that one marketplace brings more inquiries, but buyers more often come via the other marketplace. In the next contract negotiation, it therefore argues based on sales per euro, since the inquiry number alone would distort the picture.
mobile.de or AutoScout24: Who brings more buyers?
Which marketplace brings more buyers in Germany cannot be proven with public data, because there is no comparable reach figure for Germany alone. What is documented are rising inquiries at mobile.de as well as days-in-stock and prices from the AutoScout24 market report.
The published reach figures are not comparable. mobile.de reached about 114 million visits in 2024, a 7% increase over the previous year. AutoScout24 cites over 30 million users per month for the entire group across Europe. Visits and users are also different metrics.
The inquiries at mobile.de are well documented. In 2024 they rose by 20.5%, in the first half of 2025 by 20.6% compared to the same period of the previous year. No comparable inquiry figure is available for AutoScout24.
In return, AutoScout24 regularly delivers data on the overall market via the market report. Days-in-stock refers to the number of days a vehicle remains in inventory until sale. According to AutoScout24, the figures developed as follows:
| Period | Days in stock | Avg. asking price used cars | Dealer inventories |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q4 2025 | 59 days (1 day less than the previous year) | €27,626 (December) | about 4% above the previous year |
| June 2026 / Q2 2026 | 55 days, nearly the same level as the previous year | €27,231 | plus 3% |
| August 2026 | no figure given | €26,863, sixth consecutive decline | no figure given |
So dealer inventories are growing while average prices are falling. In August 2026, prices for gasoline vehicles fell by 1.4% to €23,819 and for diesel by 0.6% to €27,060.
The picture is different for used EVs. In the second quarter of 2026, the ratio of demand to supply was 128% above the previous year's value; the average price rose by 6% to €37,126. In August 2026, used EVs cost on average €38,217 (plus 1.3%), whereas in December 2025 it was still €33,503.
Small cars are also in higher demand: purchase inquiries rose by 10.3% in August 2026. If you have EVs or small cars in stock, you should offer these vehicles on both marketplaces.
In the end, what matters for your dealership is your own comparison. Record the inquiries per marketplace and vehicle over a few weeks, and compare your days-in-stock with the 55 days from the market report. If you are significantly above that, the steps in our article Reducing days-in-stock: 7 steps for used car dealers will help you.
How many photos and videos do mobile.de and AutoScout24 allow?
AutoScout24 offers dealers 50 vehicle photos for free in all listings; mobile.de recommends at least 25 photos for the maximum score in the quality check. For video, it is only documented for mobile.de that the CSV import provides a field for a YouTube URL.
The quality check is an AI-supported listing check that mobile.de introduced on February 2, 2026. It evaluates each listing based on four criteria:
| Criterion | Weighting | Recommendation from mobile.de |
|---|---|---|
| Photo quality | 40% | Sharp, well-lit photos |
| Vehicle attributes | 30% | Keep equipment and data complete |
| Number of photos | 20% | At least 25 photos |
| Description length | 10% | At least 1,000 characters |
The check is included in all packages at no extra charge. Whether the score affects placement in search results is left open by the kfz-betrieb report. How to achieve the full score is shown in our article mobile.de quality check: How dealers reach 100%.
Before uploading, check which route your images take to mobile.de. In the CSV upload interface, the image files range from _1.jpg to _15.jpg; no maximum number is documented there for the web interface or other interfaces. Clarify with your DMS provider or with mobile.de whether your route allows you to transmit the recommended 25 photos.
mobile.de introduced 360-degree interior and exterior photos in 2018, at the time free in the "Komfort" and "Premium" packages. We could not verify whether this still applies in 2026. If in doubt, ask your contact person.
For videos, mobile.de's CSV interface provides exactly one field: "video-url" for a YouTube URL. Your video must therefore first be uploaded to YouTube. The individual steps are explained in our article Uploading a mobile.de video: How it works for car dealers. We could not verify AutoScout24's current video rules using official help pages.
How to get a video into the listing without filming it yourself
If you constantly have new vehicles in stock, producing one video per vehicle each week creates additional work, and dealerships usually lack the time for filming. So assign the task to a fixed person and use a tool that works with existing material.
We recommend A21 Social for this. The software uses AI to create short vertical videos from the photos and vehicle data of your listing and automatically publishes them on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. Filming and editing are not necessary, and you don't need an agency.
Here's how to proceed:
- Fully set up the listing and follow the quality check's recommendations: 25 photos and a 1,000-character description.
- Designate a responsible person, for example from sales or marketing, who approves each new vehicle.
- Let A21 Social create the video from photos and data and publish it on your channels.
- Enter the link to the video on your YouTube channel in the video field of your mobile.de listing.
- After a few weeks, check whether vehicles with video receive more inquiries than vehicles without.
For how often you should additionally post on Instagram, read Instagram: How often should car dealers post? The weekly plan. More content ideas without filming can be found in Dealership reels: 14 video ideas without a camera crew.
Is mobile.de or AutoScout24 better for dealers?
Neither marketplace is the better choice for every dealership. What matters is the size and composition of your inventory, as well as your days-in-stock.
- mobile.de fits if you primarily rely on inquiries. The marketplace reports 20.6% more in the first half of 2025, helps optimize your listings with the quality check, and integrates videos via a YouTube link. However, expect costs that have been at least 9.1% higher since April 2026.
- AutoScout24 fits if you want to show many photos per vehicle, as the marketplace offers 50 photos per listing for free. On top of that, there's the price comparison with the competition when creating the listing.
- Both marketplaces are worthwhile if your inventory is growing, your days-in-stock are above the 55 days from the market report, or you offer in-demand vehicles such as used EVs and small cars. Then every additional inquiry pays off through shorter days-in-stock.
If you use both marketplaces, maintain the vehicle data only once and transmit it via an interface. This keeps prices, photos, and descriptions consistent on both platforms. Check the cost per sale per marketplace once a quarter, and cancel what doesn't pay off.
How we reviewed this guide
For this comparison, we evaluated the following sources in October 2026: the company profile and dealer portal of AutoScout24, the technical CSV documentation of mobile.de, the AutoScout24 market report, as well as reports from trade media kfz-betrieb, AUTOHAUS, and autoservicepraxis. We could not verify current list prices in euros, because neither marketplace publishes an official price list. A comparable reach figure for Germany alone is also missing, since mobile.de's press releases were not accessible and AutoScout24 only cites group figures for Europe. We could not verify the current video rules of both marketplaces or the current status of mobile.de's 360-degree function using official help pages. Every figure in this text is directly linked to its source.
If you want to equip your listings on mobile.de and AutoScout24 with video without filming yourself, try A21 Social. Plans start at €29 per month plus VAT.
