In 2026 the best automotive marketing agencies for car dealers handle SEO and paid inventory ads for a written monthly price on month-to-month terms, while you keep daily inventory video and price checks in-house. For the video work, our recommendation is A21 Social, which starts at $49 a month. A21 Social publishes this guide, so keep that in mind as you read our picks.

Job Who should do it Price (checked November 2026)
Daily inventory video on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube You, with A21 Social $49 to $199 a month, plus sales tax
Dealership SEO An agency with published tiers, such as VulcanAX $1,165 to $2,425 per rooftop a month
Google Vehicle Ads An agency or your own paid search lead Your ad spend, plus any management fee
Facebook and TikTok inventory ads An agency or your own paid social lead Your ad spend, plus any management fee
All-in prices in every ad You, before anything goes live Staff time

How we picked

We judged each option on 5 things, from a published price to what the same work would cost you in-house. Here is what we looked for:

  • A price in USD on the vendor's own site, checked on November 2, 2026
  • Terms you can read, covering the minimum term, onboarding fees and who owns the accounts
  • A clear list of which services the plan covers among SEO, Google Vehicle Ads, Meta and TikTok inventory ads and social media
  • Fit with the FTC's 2026 pricing guidance, which applies wherever the work puts prices in front of shoppers
  • Whether one staff member with a tool could do the same job for less

In November 2026 we read vendor pricing pages, one agency's article on SEO costs, Google's Vehicle Ads help pages, FTC press releases and FAQs, and reports on the CARS Rule. We could not verify monthly pricing for Dealer Inspire or Dealer.com, because we found no public pricing page for either. For Meta and TikTok inventory ads, we used our own earlier setup guides, linked below. Every figure in this post links to its source.

Best automotive marketing agencies at a glance

Our top pick for daily inventory video is A21 Social. For dealership SEO, VulcanAX is the agency in our research that publishes per-rooftop prices, and paid inventory ads on Google, Facebook and TikTok come out of your own ad budget whether an agency or your staff runs them.

A dealership marketing agency, also called a dealership marketing company, is an outside firm you pay monthly to run some mix of SEO, paid ads and social media for your store. Here are the options we could check.

Tool Best for Price (checked November 2026) Markets
A21 Social Daily inventory video posted to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube $49, $129 or $199 a month, plus sales tax US dealers with listings on Cars.com or CarGurus
VulcanAX Dealership SEO with published prices $1,165 to $2,425 per rooftop a month, month-to-month Single rooftops and dealer groups
Cars.com AI video Paid VIN-specific video ads Not public (our review) Cars.com dealer customers
Dealer Inspire and Dealer.com Dealers who already have a written quote No public pricing page found Not verified
Google Vehicle Ads Inventory ads on Google Your ad spend 4 countries: US, Canada, Australia, Japan
Facebook Automotive Inventory Ads Catalog ads on Facebook Your ad spend See our setup guide
TikTok Automotive Inventory Ads Catalog ads on TikTok Your ad spend US results reported by TikTok

For a sense of agency pricing overall, one vendor offers a range. In a September 19, 2026 article, VulcanAX writes that most real dealership SEO programs land between roughly $1,000 and $5,000 per rooftop per month. VulcanAX sells SEO, so treat that range as its view.

Best for daily inventory video on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube

A21 Social is our top pick here. It turns each listing into a short vertical video and posts it to your own pages for a flat monthly fee. We suggest keeping this job in-house, because it repeats for every car you stock and a tool can do it without an agency retainer.

Your stock keeps turning over, so the video work never ends. U.S. used-vehicle days' supply was 49 days in September 2026, according to Cox Automotive. Cox's Car Buyer Journey Study also found that 26% of car buyers used social media while shopping, and TikTok says 37% of its users are in the market for a new or used vehicle.

Agency SEO plans don't cover this. VulcanAX's tiers include 6 to 18+ content actions a month, and none of them lists social media management, so you would have to buy inventory video somewhere else anyway.

A21 Social

A21 Social reads your listings from Cars.com and CarGurus and uses AI to turn each car's photos and details into a short vertical video. It then posts those videos to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube automatically. You don't film or edit anything, and you don't need an agency.

It suits franchise and independent lots that list on Cars.com or CarGurus and want every car on their own social pages. Plans are Starter at $49 a month, Pro at $129 and Enterprise at $199, plus applicable sales tax.

Know 2 limits before you start: A21 Social does not import listings from Autotrader or other sites, and it does not post to Facebook Marketplace. For Marketplace, see our guide on getting dealer inventory on Facebook Marketplace.

Cars.com AI video

Cars.com AI video ads are VIN-specific paid video ads. Cars.com builds them from your inventory feed and runs them on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook for Cars.com customers, as part of its In-Market Video product. In a case study comparing March to April 2026 with the same period a year earlier, Cars.com reports a 47% increase in influenced vehicle sales. That number comes from Cars.com itself.

This product suits dealers who already pay Cars.com and want paid video reach. Only Cars.com customers can buy it, and you can't see a price first: the product page sends you to a Get Demo button.

Best for dealership SEO with published prices

VulcanAX is the dealership SEO agency in our research that publishes its prices: $1,165, $1,615 or $2,425 per rooftop a month, month-to-month. Dealership SEO is the work of getting your website's inventory, model and service pages to show up in Google's unpaid search results.

VulcanAX

VulcanAX sells 3 SEO tiers, priced per rooftop. Its terms read "Month-to-month. No annual contract, no minimum term." You pay onboarding once per dealer group, not once per store.

Tier Per rooftop a month One-time onboarding Content actions a month Services each tier lists Per rooftop at 15+ rooftops
Core $1,165 $1,000 6 Technical SEO, schema, dashboard, monthly strategy call $792
Compete $1,615 $1,500 12 Review monitoring $1,098
Command $2,425 $2,000 18+ Digital PR, paid landing pages $1,649

Volume discounts start at 10% for 2 to 3 rooftops, then rise to 20% at 4 to 7, 28% at 8 to 14 and 32% at 15 or more. VulcanAX suits single stores and groups that want SEO at a clear price with no annual lock-in. Every tier covers SEO only, though, and none lists ad buying or social media management.

Dealer Inspire and Dealer.com

When we checked on November 2, 2026, neither Dealer Inspire nor Dealer.com had a public pricing page we could find. The older OEM-program pricing documents we found would not open, so we list no price for either.

If you are weighing the two, ask each for a written monthly quote per rooftop, the minimum term and who owns the website and ad accounts. Without a published price, you can't compare them before a sales call.

Best for paid inventory ads on Google, Facebook and TikTok

Give paid inventory ads to an agency or a trained staff member, because each platform has its own feed and policy rules you have to meet before ads run. Inventory ads are paid ads that a platform builds from your vehicle feed, with one ad per car.

Platform What you set up Main rule Cost
Google Vehicle Ads Merchant Center vehicle data source linked to Google Business Profile Feed price must exactly match your landing page Your ad spend
Facebook Automotive Inventory Ads Meta vehicle catalog plus pixel events Runs as a catalog sales campaign Your ad spend
TikTok Automotive Inventory Ads Vehicle inventory feed with card images Inventory cards use a fixed image ratio Your ad spend

Google Vehicle Ads

Google describes Vehicle Ads as "a performance-focused lower funnel ad format designed for auto advertisers, dealerships, agencies, marketplaces and more to promote their entire vehicle inventory." They are fully released in 4 countries: the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan. They run through Performance Max or Standard Shopping campaigns, using a vehicle data source in Merchant Center linked to your Google Business Profile.

Google's Vehicle ads policies set 4 rules. You need a brick-and-mortar location in the state where the vehicle is listed, plus a valid dealership license where one is required. Every vehicle listed for sale must have a clean title, and the price in your data source and structured data must exactly match the price on your website landing page.

For photos, Google recommends images of 1500 x 1500 pixels or above, a 4:3 aspect ratio and files no larger than 16 MB. You pay through your Google Ads budget, plus any agency fee. Since the FTC wants mandatory fees in the advertised price, fix the all-in price on your website first and let the feed match it.

Facebook Automotive Inventory Ads

To run these ads, you build a vehicle catalog with Meta's 14 required fields, add Search, ViewContent and AddToWishlist pixel events to your site, then run a catalog sales campaign. This paid route replaced business Page listings on Marketplace after January 30, 2023. Each vehicle in the catalog can carry up to 20 images, each up to 4 MB.

These ads suit dealers whose shoppers spend time on Facebook. Since January 14, 2025, US campaigns for financial products and services must use Meta's Special Ad Category, so ask your agency how it classifies any ad that promotes financing.

TikTok Automotive Inventory Ads

TikTok reports that its Automotive Inventory Ads delivered 41% lower CPA and 51% lower last-click CPA in US data from October 2024 to January 2025. CPA, or cost per acquisition, is what you pay for each conversion. Inventory card images use a 4:3 ratio, and TikTok prefers 800x600.

These ads suit dealers who already post on TikTok. Those results come from TikTok's own reporting, and we found no independent study behind them.

Which tool fits which dealer?

If you run a single lot that lists on Cars.com or CarGurus, start with A21 Social for daily video and pay an agency only for work with a written price, such as SEO. Dealer groups can add per-rooftop SEO at volume rates and keep the final sign-off on prices with one person in-house.

Your store Keep in-house Give to an agency Published starting cost
Independent lot, 1 rooftop Inventory video with A21 Social, price checks, staff Marketplace posts SEO, if you want more organic search traffic $49 a month for A21 Social, $1,165 a month for VulcanAX Core
Franchise store, 1 rooftop Inventory video, price checks SEO, Google Vehicle Ads, Meta and TikTok inventory ads Same published fees, plus ad spend
Group, 4 to 7 rooftops Video for each rooftop, one person who signs off prices for all stores SEO at a 20% volume discount, inventory ads VulcanAX onboarding charged once per group
Group, 15+ rooftops Same as above SEO at a 32% volume discount Core $792, Compete $1,098 or Command $1,649 per rooftop

Who does the video work, and how often

One person on your team can own inventory video while A21 Social handles production and posting every day. Your agency stays out of it, so you don't pay retainer rates for content that changes with every trade-in.

  1. Name one owner for listings and social, such as your internet manager or used-car manager.
  2. Get every car live on Cars.com or CarGurus with a full photo set, using our dealer photo shot list.
  3. Put the all-in price, including any mandatory doc fee, on each listing, because A21 Social builds each video from the listing's photos and details.
  4. Start A21 Social on the Starter plan and let it post your listings to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube automatically.
  5. Once a week, check live videos against current prices and stock, and fix any problem in the listing itself.
  6. Once a month, compare that cost with your agency invoice and decide whether the agency still needs a social line item.

Example: A 1-rooftop independent lot pays $49 a month for A21 Social and $1,165 a month for VulcanAX Core, plus a one-time $1,000 onboarding fee. That comes to $1,214 a month in published fees before ad spend and sales tax.

What to check before you buy

Before you sign with a dealership marketing company, get a written monthly price, an exit term you can actually use, ownership of your accounts and content, and a named person who checks that every advertised price includes mandatory fees. The FTC says everyone who has control over an ad is responsible for its price, and that covers an agency that controls your ads.

6 contract red flags one agency publishes

VulcanAX lists 6 contract red flags for dealership SEO deals. An agency wrote this list, so weigh it with that in mind.

  • No published price
  • Fees charged as a percentage of media spend
  • Annual contracts with no exit clause
  • AI or GEO (generative engine optimization) work quoted separately
  • Onboarding fees that recur
  • The vendor owning the assets

Questions to ask an agency before you sign

Ask these in writing and keep the answers with the contract.

  • What is the monthly price per rooftop, and what is the onboarding fee?
  • Is the fee flat, or a percentage of media spend?
  • What is the minimum term, and how do I exit?
  • Who owns the Google Ads, Merchant Center, Meta and website accounts if we part ways?
  • Is AI search work included or quoted separately?
  • Who checks every advertised price for mandatory fees before it runs on social and listing sites?

FTC pricing rules cover the ads your agency runs

On March 13, 2026, the FTC sent warning letters to 97 auto dealership groups. The letters said advertised prices must be the total price, including all mandatory fees. They also named pending cases against Lindsay Chevrolet, Leader Automotive Group and Asbury Automotive Group. The practices the letters cited include:

  • Advertising prices without required fees
  • Advertising rebates or discounts that are not available to everyone
  • Ignoring required down payments
  • Tying the advertised price to dealer financing
  • Requiring extra purchases
  • Advertising vehicles that are unavailable or don't exist

On September 15, 2026, the FTC published price transparency FAQs for auto dealers. They state that "the advertised price of a vehicle must be the actual price that any consumer can walk in and pay to purchase the vehicle, excluding only charges that the government requires the consumer to pay."

The FAQ page adds that "the advertised price must include any mandatory fee, including the full document fee if the dealer requires any consumer to pay it." It says websites, social media and third-party listing sites are all "subject to the FTC Act." It also says "everyone who has control over the advertising is responsible for making sure the ads state the actual price as the most prominent amount," and that ads should make clear when "the car is not physically on the lot."

Holland & Knight gives a worked example: if you charge an $85 doc fee on a $40,000 car, the advertised price is $40,085.

The CARS Rule no longer applies. The Fifth Circuit vacated it on January 27, 2025 because the FTC skipped the required advance notice of proposed rulemaking, and the court did not rule on the rule's actual provisions. The FTC's withdrawal of the CARS Rule took effect February 12, 2026. This section summarizes public FTC statements and court reports. It is not legal advice.

Our recommendation for the video side

If you want every car on your lot posted as a video without adding to an agency retainer, try A21 Social on the Starter plan at $49 a month. Keep your agency for SEO and paid ads, and keep the price check with your own team.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a dealership marketing agency cost per month?

It depends on what the agency covers. VulcanAX, one agency that publishes its prices, charges $1,165, $1,615 or $2,425 per rooftop per month for SEO alone, plus a one-time onboarding fee of $1,000 to $2,000. Paid inventory ads add your media spend on top of any agency fee. Get the monthly fee per rooftop in writing before you sit through a demo.

How much does dealership SEO cost?

VulcanAX publishes three SEO tiers at $1,165, $1,615 and $2,425 per rooftop per month, month-to-month, as checked on November 2, 2026. Groups with 15 or more rooftops get 32% off, which brings Core down to $792 per rooftop. In a September 19, 2026 article, VulcanAX says most real dealership SEO programs land between roughly $1,000 and $5,000 per rooftop per month. That range comes from a company that sells SEO.

How much should a car dealership spend on digital marketing?

We found no verified industry benchmark for total dealer digital spend that we could cite, so add up each line item instead. In Q2 2026, Cars.com earned about $2,500 a month per dealer on average and CarGurus about $2,711 per paying U.S. dealer. Published SEO starts at $1,165 per rooftop a month at VulcanAX, and A21 Social video posting starts at $49 a month.

Is Dealer Inspire or Dealer.com better for car dealers?

We could not compare them on price, because neither had a public pricing page when we checked on November 2, 2026. Ask both for a written monthly quote per rooftop, the minimum contract term and who owns the website and ad accounts. Then compare those quotes with published prices, such as the VulcanAX SEO tiers.

Should a car dealership hire a marketing agency or do it in-house?

You can split the work. Keep the high-volume, low-risk jobs in-house, such as daily inventory video and checking that every price includes mandatory fees. A tool like A21 Social posts listing videos for $49 to $199 a month. Hire an agency for SEO and paid inventory ads if it gives you a written price and a month-to-month term or a clear exit.

Do dealership advertised prices have to include doc fees?

The FTC's pricing FAQs from September 2026 say the advertised price must include any mandatory fee, including the full document fee if the dealer requires any consumer to pay it. The only charges a dealer can leave out are those the government requires the consumer to pay. The FAQs say this applies to websites, social media and third-party listing sites. This is a summary of FTC guidance, not legal advice.

Is the FTC CARS Rule still in effect?

No. The Fifth Circuit vacated the CARS Rule on January 27, 2025, and the FTC's withdrawal of the rule took effect February 12, 2026. The FTC still acts on dealer pricing under the FTC Act. On March 13, 2026, it sent warning letters to 97 auto dealership groups.

Can a dealer be held liable for ads their agency runs?

The FTC's 2026 pricing FAQs say everyone who has control over the advertising is responsible for making sure the ads state the actual price as the most prominent amount. The FAQs name third-party advertisers and OEMs as responsible parties, as well as dealers. Review every price your agency publishes before it runs. This is a summary of FTC guidance, not legal advice.

What does a car dealership digital marketing agency do?

A dealership digital marketing agency runs some mix of SEO, paid search such as Google Vehicle Ads, Meta and TikTok inventory ads, and social posts for your store. What's included varies a lot by vendor. Every VulcanAX tier, for example, covers SEO only and lists no ad buying or social media management. Get the full list of services in writing before you sign.
