A videographer for the car dealership pays off for image and team videos. For each individual vehicle in stock, however, an AI video made from the listing photos pays off: depending on the provider, it costs roughly 5 to 49 € instead of starting at 449 € for a filmed vehicle video. For the vehicle videos we recommend A21 Social; the plans start at 29 € per month plus VAT. A21 Social is the publisher of this guide.

Videographer or AI video for the dealership: the comparison at a glance

Per vehicle, the videographer is the most expensive option, the AI video the cheapest. The smartphone video mainly costs your team's time. The following table compares the three paths for a stock of 30 to 100 vehicles.

We retrieved all prices from the providers' pages on November 3, 2026. The providers state their prices sometimes net, sometimes gross. So treat these figures only as an order of magnitude.

What is the difference between a videographer and an AI video?

A videographer films on-site with a camera and then edits the material. An AI video is created without filming, from the photos and data you already have for the listing anyway.

In this guide, by "AI video" we mean a short vehicle video that software automatically creates from existing listing photos and vehicle data, without anyone filming or editing. The videographer shows your dealership and your team, the AI video shows the car currently in stock.

Videographer and agency

A freelance videographer, according to Trustlocal, bills based on filming days, team size, and editing effort. The page doesn't state a fixed price per finished minute. In return, you get your own footage with sound and real people in front of the camera. That can't be produced from photos.

Some agencies for car dealerships also offer filmed vehicle videos at a flat per-piece price. Digital Car Promotion, for example, bills per video and advertises "no monthly costs." There's a choice between a classic and a cinematic package, optionally with video SEO. The agency also offers the "Unsere-ID" package with photo and video content starting at 399 € per month.

Hybrid form: photographer on-site, video from photos

The "Premium package Video plus" from autohaus.biz combines both. A photographer takes up to 15 photos per vehicle on-site. A video is created from these, uploaded to YouTube, and transmitted to the car marketplaces. Setting up and monthly maintenance of a YouTube channel is also possible; in addition there's your logo on the photos and a Car-ID code.

Smartphone video from your own team

With a smartphone video, you or your salespeople film yourselves. This is suited for anything involving people, such as handovers, the workshop, or new arrivals. You'll find concrete ideas from the walkaround to the handover in our article Dealership Reels: Video Ideas Without a Camera Crew.

What does a videographer for the dealership cost, and what does an AI video cost?

A videographer in Germany costs 120 to 160 € per hour in 2026; filmed vehicle videos are available starting at 449 € per video. An AI video from listing photos costs, according to a provider comparison, roughly 5 to 49 € per vehicle.

Videographer and agency: hourly rate, filming day, image film

Specialists with their own equipment charge, according to Trustlocal, 120 to 220 € per hour. An image film costs 5,000 to 15,000 € for mid-sized companies. In the site's sample calculation, two filming days alone cost 4,000 €.

Filmed vehicle videos at Digital Car Promotion start at 449 € per video. For 30 vehicles, that's at least 13,470 €; for 100 vehicles, at least 44,900 €. For the "Premium package Video plus" from autohaus.biz, an annual fee of 499 € incl. VAT applies; the page doesn't state a separate price per vehicle.

AI videos: prices per vehicle for 30 and 100 cars

The following prices come from the provider comparison linked above (as of October 23, 2026). We extrapolated the figures for 30 and 100 vehicles from the list prices.

Provider Price stated in the comparison Model 30 vehicles 100 vehicles
autohaus.video 49 € per trailer, 399 € for 10 (net) Single price or package 1,197 to 1,470 € 3,990 to 4,900 €
OnlyCars 44.90 € for 10 videos One-time package, self-service 134.70 € 449 €
VanillaSky 5 € per car and background (incl. VAT) Price per car, self-service from 150 € from 500 €
DreamItAI 4,900 DKK monthly for 5 cars Production by the provider stated only in DKK stated only in DKK

This table should be read with caution. The comparison comes from autohaus.video, i.e. from one of the providers itself, and is therefore not neutral. Moreover, the site itself points out that the offers differ in scope, for example in the number of videos per vehicle, and that you should compare quantity, term, currency, and tax basis before any calculation.

On its page on the cost comparison with a videographer, autohaus.video states a price per clip for an in-house videographer. The provider itself describes this figure as a deliberately fictional sample calculation and explicitly not as a market price. We therefore do not adopt it.

Smartphone video and A21 Social

With a smartphone video, no external costs arise, but your team's work time for filming, editing, and uploading does. How many minutes this takes per vehicle is not documented.

A21 Social bills monthly: Starter 29 €, Pro 79 €, and Enterprise 149 €, each plus VAT. You can see which plan fits your stock on the pricing page.

Which option brings more buyers and fewer days in stock?

No source documents which option brings more buyers: we found no figure for how many days a video shortens the time a vehicle sits in stock. What can be calculated, however, is from how many saved days in stock a video pays for itself: for a 49 € AI video, from around 2 days; for a filmed video, from around 18.

The basis for this calculation is the cost of a day in stock. According to the DAT Barometer June 2026, a day in stock costs around 25 € per car. Combustion-engine cars sit at the dealership for an average of 81 days, electric cars for 93, and plug-in hybrids for 97 days.

Nearly 30% of all used cars sit for more than 90 days and thus count as risk inventory. For the barometer, dealers were surveyed from May 12 to 29, 2026 in 255 online interviews.

Cars are also listed for a long time on the marketplaces. According to the AutoScout24 market report, in September 2026 vehicles were listed for an average of 56 days online, 2 days shorter than a year earlier. Since May, however, the listing duration has risen again.

Video Price equivalent in days in stock at 25 €
Filmed vehicle video starting at 449 € around 18
AI video per provider comparison 5 to 49 € around 0.2 to 2
AI trailer in 10-pack 39.90 € around 1.6

An example: a dealer with 60 vehicles pays at least 26,940 € for filmed videos at 449 € each, versus 2,940 € in total for AI videos at 49 € each. The difference of 24,000 € corresponds to 960 days in stock at 25 €. No source confirms whether the filmed videos make up this gap through faster sales.

It also matters how many cars get a video at all. At 449 € each, it becomes expensive to have every car filmed, and a car without a video won't find a buyer via Instagram or TikTok. Especially younger buyers look where these videos run: of used-car buyers under 30, 41% get informed via forums, blogs, and social media, and Instagram reaches 40% of the German-speaking population aged 14 and up weekly.

In addition to videos, the right price and a good listing also help against long stock times. Our guide Reducing Days in Stock describes step by step how to proceed.

How do videographer and AI video handle photos and video?

The videographer creates new footage on-site, the AI video uses the photos that are already in the listing. The quality of an AI video therefore depends directly on your listing photos.

Photos: the template for every AI video

In the mobile.de quality check, image quality makes up 40% of the overall rating, and for the maximum score on photo count, mobile.de recommends at least 25 photos. Our article on vehicle photos shows which subjects to photograph in which order. At AutoScout24, all packages (GO, SMART, and PRO) include up to 50 images per listing.

The premium package from autohaus.biz delivers up to 15 photos per vehicle, i.e. fewer than the 25 that mobile.de recommends for the maximum score. If you use the hybrid form, keep an eye on your quality-check score accordingly.

Video in the listing on mobile.de and AutoScout24

At mobile.de, a video goes into the listing as a public YouTube link. Since February 2, 2026, the quality check evaluates 4 criteria; a video is not among them. Our article on video upload at mobile.de describes exactly where to enter the link. It also cites AutoScout24's photo guide, according to which a video is possible in every listing.

The current German package overview in the AutoScout24 dealer portal does not mention a video function. For Austria, AutoScout24 wrote in April 2020 that links to vehicle videos are also transferred via the interface, provided the respective interface provider offers this function. Whether this applies equally to German dealers is not stated there.

Formats for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube

Instagram does not suggest reels longer than 3 minutes to new viewers. TikTok recommends the portrait format 9:16 and a length of 21 to 34 seconds. Smartphone videos and AI videos are usually created in portrait format anyway.

A videographer often films in landscape format for website and YouTube, for example in a cinematic style. So if you book a videographer, agree in the contract that they also deliver short portrait-format versions for reels and TikTok in addition.

Videographer or AI video: what should you choose?

Book the videographer for image and team videos, and use AI videos for every single vehicle. With 30 to 100 cars in stock, this way every car gets a video, and the budget for the professional goes into the footage that only they can deliver.

  • Choose a videographer if you need an image film, a team video, or material for the website and job postings, and can budget 5,000 to 15,000 € for it.
  • Choose AI videos if every vehicle in stock should get a video without anyone filming or editing. A video for 49 € corresponds to roughly 2 days in stock at 25 €.
  • Use both if you want to present your dealership professionally once and have your current stock published automatically. Smartphone videos of handovers and from the workshop are added in both cases.

How to implement vehicle videos with A21 Social

Vehicle videos are an ongoing task: every new car needs one, and every sold car drops out again. A21 Social, our recommendation for this task, reads your listings from mobile.de, creates short portrait-format videos via AI from photos and vehicle data, and publishes them automatically on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. You don't need a filming appointment or an agency for this.

However, A21 Social only imports listings from mobile.de. Listings on AutoScout24, Kleinanzeigen, or other marketplaces are not imported, and A21 Social does not publish on Facebook Marketplace.

  1. Bring your mobile.de listings up to date, with good photos following the photo checklist and complete vehicle data. They are the template for every video.
  2. Choose a plan on the pricing page: Starter 29 €, Pro 79 €, or Enterprise 149 € per month plus VAT.
  3. Have the videos published automatically on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube so that every new listing gets a video without extra effort.
  4. Enter the video's YouTube link in the respective mobile.de listing.
  5. Designate a person in sales who continually answers comments and messages on the videos. With a reply within 2 minutes, the closing probability is 70%, dropping to 40% after 10 minutes.
  6. Book the videographer independently of this for the image film and team video, as soon as the budget allows.

How we reviewed this guide

For this guide, we evaluated the pricing pages of Digital Car Promotion and autohaus.biz in October and November 2026. We also drew on the provider comparison and cost comparison from autohaus.video, the cost overview from Trustlocal, the DAT Barometer, an AUTOHAUS market report, and the AutoScout24 dealer portal. Because the provider comparison comes from a provider itself, it is not neutral; we did not adopt its freely chosen calculation figure for a videographer. We were unable to review the official mobile.de help page on listing videos, because it was unreachable, nor the German video guide from AutoScout24, which only returned an error message. A maximum length for AutoScout24 videos is therefore not confirmed. We found no documented figure on the effect of a video on days in stock. Every figure in this guide is linked to its source.

Should every vehicle from your mobile.de stock get a video, without you having to book a filming day? Then try A21 Social: the plans start at 29 € per month plus VAT.

Frequently asked questions

Does a video in a car listing pay off?

An AI video from the listing photos costs, depending on the provider, roughly 5 to 49 €. At about 25 € in cost per day in stock, it has paid off as soon as the car sells about 2 days earlier. However, how many days a video actually saves is not documented. A video is not factored into the mobile.de quality check, but you can additionally use it for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.

How do I add a video on mobile.de?

On mobile.de, a video goes into the listing as a YouTube link. In the form, you enter it under "3. Details" in the "Images & Video" section in the "YouTube video" field, or for CSV import in the "video-url" field. The video must already be publicly accessible on YouTube beforehand.

How do I add a video as a dealer on AutoScout24?

According to AutoScout24's photo guide, a video is possible in every listing in addition to the 50 free vehicle images. However, the current German package overview in the dealer portal does not mention a video function. For Austria, AutoScout24 wrote in 2020 that video links are also transferred via the interface, provided the interface provider offers this function. It's best to clarify how this works exactly for your package with your AutoScout24 contact.

How long can a video be on AutoScout24?

As of November 2026, we could not confirm a maximum length for listing videos on any official German AutoScout24 page, because the German video guide was unavailable. So ask your AutoScout24 contact before production. For social media, the rule is: Instagram does not suggest reels longer than 3 minutes to new viewers, while TikTok recommends 21 to 34 seconds.

Can I create an AI video from car photos?

Yes, several providers automatically create vehicle videos from existing listing photos, for roughly 5 to 49 € per vehicle depending on the provider. Quality depends directly on your photos, so a fixed photo checklist with at least 25 images pays off. A21 Social automatically creates portrait-format videos from your mobile.de listings and publishes them on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.

Can I make dealership videos myself with a phone?

Yes, for handovers, scenes from the workshop, or the week's new arrivals, a phone is enough. Film in portrait format 9:16 and keep reels under 3 minutes; for TikTok, the platform recommends 21 to 34 seconds. There are no external costs, but there is work time for filming and editing.

Do cars with a video sell faster?

We found no documented figure for how many days a video shortens the time in stock. For comparison: in September 2026, vehicles on AutoScout24 were listed for an average of 56 days. Mathematically, a 49 € AI video has already paid for itself if the car sells about 2 days earlier.

What does a day in stock cost for a used car?

According to the DAT Barometer June 2026, a day in stock at the dealer costs around 25 € per car. Combustion-engine cars sit for an average of 81 days, electric cars for 93, and plug-in hybrids for 97 days. Nearly 30 percent of all used cars sit for more than 90 days and thus count as risk inventory.

What does an image film for a car dealership cost?

According to Trustlocal, an image film costs 5,000 to 15,000 € for mid-sized companies. It's billed based on filming days, team size, and editing effort; the site does not state a price per finished minute. In its sample calculation, two filming days alone cost 4,000 €.
